HomeHelp

HomeHelp is a program that connects your staffs’ (or members’) families to our services on behalf of your business or organization. Every family faces in-home tension, and sometimes that tension affects their work in the form of tardiness, loss of focus, irritability, and poor performance. By providing them with HomeHelp, you not only help your staff, but their families and your organization/business.

Family Meeting Assistance

All families experience instances that require a family meeting. Unfortunately, many of those meetings turn into arguments where nothing is resolved and animosities build. Under this program, we will provide a meeting facilitator to help families talk about important and sometimes sensitive topics.

Mediation

This is a “sit-down” with two members of family who are not getting along and a neutral mediator who helps them communicate effectively and address the underlying issues. Mediation offers the family members an opportunity to safely discuss problematic areas and develop their own solutions.

Personal Coaching

A one-on-one training session that focuses on personal communication and conflict management. We teach skills useful for individuals who are often looked upon for guidance and advice by their family.

Why would my staff need such services?

Every family has tension. Here are some common areas:

  • Parent-teen relations

  • Dealing with family care (daycare, senior care, etc.)

  • Finances

  • In-laws

  • Kids’ activities

  • Neighbors

Why are these services a good idea?

The common adage of “don’t bring your work home” can be reversed; “don’t bring home to work”. Tension at home can affect company production (and teamwork). By offering your staff an avenue to help with home life, they are less likely to bring home tensions to work. They are also more likely to increase dedication to your business, thus improving production and decreasing turnover.

How does it work?

It’s fairly straightforward. Once your company or organization enrolls (usually 1-year contracts), then all you have to do is spread the word within your company*. We will provide posters with our contact information and steps of process thereafter. Everything from then on is confidential. The person who contacted us will go through a brief initial consultation so we can better understand the issue(s). We will then recommend one of the three services.

Depending on the situation, other family members will be contacted and updated about the situation and what to expect. If they wish to provide any opinions or perspectives at this time, they are welcome to. The service will then be scheduled and delivered at that date/time.

The company/organization will not know who is contacting us. The only information the company/organization will receive is that the services has been used X times per quarter and a total time will be given. No other information is shared. This provides the staff/member privacy and anonymity.

*this is crucial. If your staff members don’t know about the service, then it won’t be utilized and its benefits negated. We encourage clients to routinely remind and encourage use.

Example

A staff member is dealing with an issue at home: His spouse’s mother has fallen and requires hospitalization at the very least. After being released from the hospital, she will need physical therapy for several weeks. After that, she may have to be moved to a senior care facility or have care arranged for her. She can no longer drive or walk up/down her in-home stairs. Your staff member has many things on their mind:

How do he provide support for my spouse? Is father in-law around? Coordinating transportation for spouse, mother in-law, kids, and himself Who can watch the kids while spouse is visiting her mother? Meals School duties Finances with physical therapy and future care Will mother in-law live with them? How? Where? How is spouse dealing with the rest of her family? Is the family helping? What if they are not? What to do with mother in-law’s house? Dealing with a senior who is transitioning, suddenly, to a new phase in life Researching senior care options
