A Unique Perspective in the Field of Dispute Resolution
Devin Rau spent nearly 20 years in facility maintenance, management and logistics, before deciding to use his skills to help people, rather than buildings. With his background, Devin brings a diverse and unique perspective to the field of dispute resolution. He is a trained and experienced mediator and facilitator, working to move modern businesses toward more inclusive and participatory business practices.
After completing part of his bachelor’s degree earlier in life, Devin entered his first career path, where he realized that contemporary business models could benefit greatly from a more inclusive and participatory approach. While still working full-time, he went back to school, and in 2008 received a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Montana. Since 2011, he has been working on a Master of Arts degree in Conflict Resolution at the University of Denver.
He has completed professional training in both mediation and Conflict Coaching from Common Ground Mediation ; Advanced Multi-Party Negotiation of Environmental Disputes from the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution; and public forum facilitation from Colorado State University’s Center For Public Deliberation. He also served as the Director of Finance for the Conflict Resolution Graduate Students Association and as Research Assistant to the Henry R. Luce, Professor for Conflict Resolution at the Conflict Resolution Institute’s Center for Research and Practice at the University of Denver. He is currently working on his master’s thesis, which examines how changing social structures and norms create conflict among and between individuals and organizations.
